Problem: Prior to the development of the 1+1 Video mobile application, users faced challenges in accessing 1+1 Media video content seamlessly across different platforms. The lack of a unified experience across web, mobile, and smart TV platforms led to user frustration and disjointed viewing experiences. Additionally, there was a need for faster decision-making processes in design within large organizations to ensure timely and effective solutions. Solution: To address these challenges, the 1+1 Video mobile application was created, offering users a cohesive experience consistent with the 1+1 Media brand. The app features a shared informational architecture with the 1+1 Video website and smart TV application, ensuring consistency in content organization and navigation across platforms. Users can easily browse, search, and consume video content from 1+1 Media channels on their mobile devices, enhancing accessibility and user engagement. My Role and Collaboration: As the lead designer of the 1+1 Video mobile application, I played a crucial role in shaping the user experience and interface design across iOS and Android platforms. Collaborating closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders, I advocated for faster decision-making processes in design, leveraging insights from user research and industry best practices to inform design decisions and ensure alignment with user needs and business goals. Approach: Our approach to designing the 1+1 Video mobile application involved iterative prototyping and user testing to gather feedback and validate design decisions. We adopted a user-centric design process, prioritizing simplicity, intuitiveness, and consistency in the user interface across platforms. Regular communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams facilitated swift decision-making and enabled us to address challenges efficiently. Results and Iterations: Initial Release: The first version of the 1+1 Video mobile application launched with basic features for browsing and watching video content, establishing a foundation for future iterations. Subsequent Updates: Iterative updates introduced enhancements such as personalized recommendations, seamless cross-platform synchronization, and improved content discovery capabilities based on user feedback and analytics. Ongoing Optimization: Continuous iteration and optimization efforts are ongoing to further refine the user experience, address performance issues, and incorporate new features and functionalities to meet evolving user needs and industry trends. Insights and Learnings: Faster decision-making processes in design are essential for delivering timely and effective solutions that meet user needs and business objectives. Collaboration and communication across cross-functional teams are key to ensuring alignment and driving innovation in product development. User-centric design principles, informed by user research and feedback, are critical for creating intuitive and engaging mobile experiences that resonate with users. I've learned a lot of things. For instance, adults in Ukraine sometimes struggle to navigate video apps on their own and often ask their children for help because apps can be confusing for them. People prefer to see larger fonts and bigger buttons. Also, project covers are crucial for users, so it's essential to pay a lot of attention to them.

Conclusion: The 1+1 Video mobile application represents a significant step forward in providing users with seamless access to 1+1 Media video content across platforms. By aligning with the informational architecture of the 1+1 Video website and smart TV application, the mobile app offers a cohesive and intuitive viewing experience for Ukrainian audiences. Through iterative design and collaboration, we have been able to deliver a mobile application that not only meets user expectations but also drives engagement and strengthens the 1+1 Media brand in the digital landscape. Moving forward, we remain committed to continuous improvement and innovation to ensure that the 1+1 Video mobile application remains a leading destination for video content consumption in Ukraine.
